Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Wake County Young Democrats!

The Wake County Young Democrats is a diverse group of Wake County residents between the ages of 18 and 35 whose mission is to empower young people to get involved in the political process. The principles of the Democratic Party are what unite and inspire us: equality, justice, and social responsibility. We seek to protect the core American values of hard work, liberty, fairness, and equal opportunity.

To promote the acquisition of political power by young Democrats, we strive to take an active role in party affairs and to eliminate the disaffection many young people feel toward politics. We acknowledge the many troubling shortcomings of our current system—its plutocratic inclinations, the influence of fundamentalism, and the politics of division among them—but we know that the only way to triumph over these challenges is to work together to effect positive change.

I hope you will join us in our efforts. This website provides information about the activities of the Wake County Young Democrats and how you can get involved. I invite you to explore it and to join us at our next monthly meeting. Please feel free to contact me at etporter@gmail.com with your comments and questions.

Warm Regards,
Erica Porter

Resolution Opposing AZ Racial Profiling Law

Whereas on April 13, 2010, the Arizona state legislature passed a law requiring law enforcement officials to check the identification of people in Arizona suspected of being undocumented immigrants regardless of whether they have due cause to do so.

Whereas this law violates everyone's civil rights in Arizona, whether or not they are in this country legally.

Whereas the Wake County Young Democrats oppose racial profiling as a means of law enforcement, no matter what form it takes.
